Nuclear Structure, Astrophysics and Reactions (NuSTAR) at FAIR

    Project Details

    Description

This project enables the UK to take a lead in key parts of Nuclear Structure, Astrophysics and Reactions (NuSTAR) at the Facilty for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe (FAIR).

In order to take full advantage of the unprecedented range of beams from FAIR to address fundamental issues in nuclear physics, an innovative and diverse suite of experimental probes is required. The UK community has decided to concentrate its efforts on the six in which it has a scientific lead and where it can use its technical excellence and experience.

From 2013, UK academics will be ready to fully utilise the range of beams available at FAIR and to continue their excellence and worldwide leadership in aspects of nuclear structure and reactions physics and nuclear astrophysics.
