Research interests
Yi Chen's research interests include cultural aethetics, visual material culture and research methodology. Yi's first monograph (Practising Rhythmanalysis: Theories and Methods 2017) develops the methodology of 'rhythmanalysis' that explores cultural experience and material culture through the lens of 'rhythms'. Her second monograph 'The Aesthetics of Image and Cultural Form' explores non-discursive mode of visual material analysis.
