Scholarly biography
Vy Rajapillai lectures in English Language and Media. After completing an MA in Contemporary Approaches to English Studies at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London and a second in Media Assisted Language Teaching at the university of Brighton, Rajapillai joined a three-year EU funded project at the University to carry out her doctoral studies on cross cultural collaboration and communication. She has also worked on a research project for the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) investigating how technology can support stakeholder participation.
Research interests
Rajapillai’s research interest is in the area of cross-cultural collaboration/communication and migration and identity. She is interested in investigating the role of culture in the uptake and use of online communication technology for cross-cultural collaboration/communication. Her research interest includes Web 2 technology for learning and teaching.
She is also interested issues surrounding identity construction of migrants.
Supervisory Interests
My research interest is in the area of cross cultural collaboration/communication, identity construction and student engagement. My supervisory interest are the areas of World Englishes and English Language Teaching/Learning and identity construction of migrants. I’m also interested in investigating decolonising the curriculum and student engagement through staff-student partnership.
