Research interests
Dr Tai Cossich is currently a Research Fellow in the History of Design at the University of Brighton, in conjunction with the Royal College of Art, working on the Trans-Atlantic Platform–funded project Graphic Design Histories for Creative Dissent: Archiving and Ethical Challenges.
Her research examines graphic design histories in relation to linguistic minority publishing and community-led digital archives.
Graphic Design Histories for Creative Dissent: Archiving and Ethical Challenges
Until December 2027, Tai Cossich is part of the team for Graphic Design Histories for Creative Dissent: Archiving and Ethical Challenges, which investigates protest graphics across Brazil, South Africa, and the UK from 1950 to the present. The project is funded by FAPESP, the National Research Foundation (NRF), and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
Collaborators include Prof Teal Triggs (Royal College of Art, Principal Investigator), Dr Harriet Atkinson (University of Brighton), Associate Professor Priscila Farias and Assistant Professor Guilherme Altmayer (University of São Paulo), Associate Professor Deirdre Pretorius (University of Johannesburg), and Dr Thandi Gamedze and Associate Professor Lee-Shae Sharnick-Udemans (University of the Western Cape).
