Activities per year
As an Early Career Researcher at the University of Brighton I am interested in how designers and illustrators can help others. Currently working on developing proposals for cross school initiatives to enable and facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skill sharing between designers, illustrators and students from other disciplines. I am passionate about education, and developing ways to help others through skill sharing.
As a creative practitioner and lecturer I am interested in how students and staff understand and explain complex processes using visual communication, and how designers and illustrators can help to aid others understanding of complex processes. Focusing on the diagram as a starting point I am exploring how distilling information, movement, and sequence help communication and learning.
As an educator I seek to build students confidence, networks, and industry awareness through activities built into the curriculum. I have connected students with a huge variety of designers and illustrators through studio visits, placements, Alumni events, and external partners. I also curate a series of weekly Professional Practice lectures for all three years, plus an annual event called Future Selves which aims to develop employability skills, community, and perspective.
