Personal profile

Approach to teaching

I am a registered Social Worker and joined the University of Brighton in January 2025.

I am a module coordinator for the Experts by Experience; Needs and Resources module for the undergraduate program as well as teaching across other modules. In addition to teaching I facilitate the Experts by Experience inclusion in Social Work Education at the University and embed coproduction and inclusion values across my teaching and learning.

I work part time for the University of Brighton and part time in a statutory role in Adult Services as a Community Development Officer across Sussex in the Domestic Abuse Sector. I facilitate the Sussex Voices of Lived Experience Board, a network of people across Sussex with lived experience of domestic abuse who sit as a sub-group to the Pan-Sussex Domestic Abuse Partnership Board to ensure that Victim Survivor voice is central to identifying gaps and delivering improvements in the response to domestic abuse across the Statutory and Voluntary Sector.

I have worked in Children's Services at Brighton and Hove City Council for 15 years. I have worked in the Kinship Care team, the Contact Service, the Fostering team and at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital.

My main areas of interest are coproduction - addressing power imbalances to embed people with lived experience to be involved in decision making, co-design and co-delivery of services, working with domestic abuse, trauma informed practice and working with children, families & communities.
