Research interests
Dr Rotimi Joseph is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 20 years of professional experience across the construction industry at both local and international levels. His expertise spans quantity surveying, cost management, project delivery, and strategic consultancy, developed through decades of practice in diverse project environments.
He is the Principal Partner at Kemrot Associates Limited, a specialist consultancy providing comprehensive quantity surveying and project management services. In this role, he leads on major commercial decisions, oversees project delivery, and supports clients in achieving value-driven outcomes across construction projects.
Driven by a passion for academic excellence and industry advancement, Dr Joseph is also a Senior Lecturer at the School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering, University of Brighton. He currently serves as the Course Leader for both the BSc Quantity Surveying and MSc Construction Project Management programmes, where he is responsible for curriculum development, programme leadership, professional accreditation, and student academic support. His leadership ensures alignment of the programmes with industry needs and emerging professional standards.
In addition, he is a Visiting Fellow at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver industry-led research commissioned by organisations including DEFRA and Flood Re. His research contributes to national strategies on resilience, sustainability, and the economics of risk reduction.
Dr Joseph is a research-active academic with recognised national and international contributions in the field of construction management. His key research interests include cost–benefit analysis, flood risk management at the household level, construction economics, and socio-technical approaches to resilience planning. He has presented his work at international conferences, published in reputable academic journals, and continues to engage with industry and governmental bodies to influence policy and best practice.
