I am recognized as an expert in EU fundamental rights by the European Parliament, and, in addition to the right to equality (the subject of my doctoral thesis), I have written on the right to property and the rights of the victim (including a communiqué on victims’ rights sent by the Association of Chief Police Officers to all police stations in the UK). More recently, I have been investigating the UK's withdrawal from the EU ("Brexit").
I am happy to consider supervising PhD candidates in any of the above areas, or in the areas of EU Law or European Criminal Law more broadly.
I am a senior lecturer in EU Law. I joined the law subject group in 2015 after five years at the University of Bedfordshire, where I was Undergraduate Portfolio Leader for the School of Law. Before my career in higher education, I practiced law at a number of "boutique" law firms in Brussels. I have appeared before the Court of Justice of the EU and am cited twice in the European Court Reports.
