Oluwaseun Odetunde

Oluwaseun researches how migrant workers experience the UK labour market, with a focus on health and social care. He is interested in how immigration policy, workplace practices, and structural inequality shape the working lives and career paths of migrant workers.

His research interests include migration and social policy, race and gender at work, labour market inequality, and career barriers facing migrant workers in the UK care sector.

His PhD examines the experiences of Black African male support workers in UK adult social care. He is developing the concept of "blocked masculinity privilege", the idea that being male can create small workplace advantages for these workers, but ones that rarely lead to lasting career progression or financial security.

His work aims to inform workforce policy, organisational reform, and anti-racist practice in the care sector.

Alongside his academic work, Oluwaseun writes on Nigerian governance and labour policy. His commentary has been published in national newspapers in Nigeria.
