Research interests

Mel's research interests are in the field of health sciences, psychology, and emotional wellbeing. She is particularly passionate about the emotional protection of performing artists living with multiple disadvantages. Currently investigating the elements of resilience, identity, and mental health of young musicians, Mel aims to provide new research to the field of wellbeing for young emerging artists. 

Scholarly biography

Mel holds two academic degrees: Taking a humanistic approach to psychology the first degree was awarded by Middlesex University and achieved with an Upper Second-Class Honours in Counselling. In 2019 Mel achieved her Master of Music with Merit at Canterbury Christ Church University. This master's degree embodied a multitude of facets to the study, modules included music psychology, music education, and music composition. A creative project in Dreamstate Songs was the masterpiece of the assignment.
