Scholarly biography

Mel Bradford is a senior lecturer in mathematics education specialising in primary mathematics. She has significant experience teaching on the BA Primary Education and BA Primary Mathematics Education routes. She is the route leader for the BA Primary Mathematics and is a Personal and Academic Tutor (PAT).

Mel is also the assistant admissions coordinator for the Primary PGCE and BA Primary routes.

Mel has a background in mathematics having completed her BSC(Hons) in Mathematics in 1987. She completed her PGCE in 1990 and taught in primary schools for over 20 years prior to joining the university in 2012. She completed her MA in Mathematics Education in 2012. Her dissertation explored the impact of mathematics anxiety and weak working memory on low attainers in the primary classroom.
