Research interests

Mark Wright is a painter, curator, and academic who studied at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London. After graduating from the RCA in 1990, he was a founding member of Cubitt Gallery and Studios in London, where his practice is based. He has exhibited widely throughout the UK and internationally including Rhodes and Mann Gallery and Carter Presents, London and Spencer Brownstone Gallery, New York. He has also curated a series of exhibitions focussed upon contemporary issues in painting and its relationship to photography and the digital at  & Model Gallery, Leeds, Pippy Holdsworth Gallery, London, James Freeman Gallery, London and Galeria Cadaques, Spain. His work has been included in recent exhibitions including, Towards Night at the Towner Gallery, Eastbourne and A sketch of the Universe: Art, Science and the influence of D'Arcy Thompson, Edinburgh City Art Centre. He has work in a number of collections including the Wellcome Trust, David Roberts Collection, Dundee Museums Collection and Deutsche Bank. He has taught at a number of Art Schools and Universities, most recently Wimbledon College of Art, Loughborough University, Glasgow School of Art and University of Brighton where he is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art Painting.
