Research interests
My research interests focus on the following:
- Eurocentric History
- Genocide Studies
- 20th and 21st Century Human Rights Violations & Prevention
- Propaganda Development
- Digital Media’s Impact on History (both Past and Present)
- Authoritarian Regimes and the subsequent resistance movements they birth.
In addition to my interest in digital media, I am intrigued by the interdisciplinary development of memes and I aim to study how society’s cancel culture, sustained by said digital media, exists in all forms – the just, unjust and neutral.
Regions of particular interest include
- Germany
- The Soviet Union/ Russian Federation
- Former Yugoslavia
- The United States in the 20th and 21st centuries
My Ph.D. research revolves around the comparison of 20th-century Authoritarian Governments (specifically Nazism) and the United States (specifically Trumpism), within a global context. Through a micro-analysis within different mediums of media (Tiktok versus Cinema, Reddit versus written publication, Twitter versus spoken word), the hope is to connect traditional authoritarianism with a modern new form and how the concept of a meme is ever-changing - a mutation of itself.
