Research interests
My research interests focus on the potential of social media for sustainability discourse in cruise tourism. How do cruise tourists negotiate the boundaries of sustainability regarding their holiday? Which emotions are involved in these discourses? How are these emotions managed? I explore these questions in my PhD project “Cruising with a Conscience: Navigating moral identity and the ethics of sustainability in the cruise community.”
Approach to teaching
I enjoy making education available for everyone. I know that there is no one size fits all approach to teaching, which is why I vary my teaching methods depending on course content and adjusting it to students’ needs. This includes lectures, workshops, seminars, flipped classroom and problem-based learning approaches. When I teach, my aim is to motivate students to dig deeper, find out more, and to challenge what they have read as well as their own assumptions.
