Personal profile

Scholarly biography

I studied Geography at the University of Aberystwyth before going to the University of Bristol where I completed a masters, then a PhD examining national identify and nation-building in Quebec.

From 2003-13 I worked at the University of Southampton, mainly for the Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies where I organised and managed UK-wide educational development activities.

I joined the Centre for Learning and Teaching in 2013. I am currently Course Coordinator for the PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education which is taken by most early career teaching staff. I also design and deliver workshops for colleagues undertaking Fellowships of the Higher Education Academy.

I am an active researcher and have published work on identity in Quebec, disciplinary academic identities, interdisciplinary teaching and learning, teaching quality regimes and student voice in higher education.
