Personal profile
Scholarly biography
I joined the Centre for Learning and Teaching (now the Learning and Teaching Hub) in 2013. Alongside colleagues in the Hub, I work with individuals and teams across the university to support them in developing learning and teaching practices and embedding Education and Student Experience strategic priorities.
I am course leader for the PG Certificate in Academic Practice in which is taken by most early career teaching staff. I am also the Hub Employability lead and the Hub partner for the School of Applied Sciences.
Before coming to Brighton, I worked at the University of Southampton, mainly for the Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies where I organised and managed UK-wide educational development activities. Previously, I studied Geography at the University of Aberystwyth before going to the University of Bristol where I completed a masters, then a PhD examining national identity and nation-building in Quebec.
I am an active researcher and have published work on identity in Quebec, disciplinary academic identities, employability, Education for Sustainable Development, interdisciplinary teaching and learning, teaching quality regimes and student voice in higher education.
Research interests
My research interests include student voice, interdisciplinary teaching and learning, the professionalisation of teaching and learning in higher education.
Supervisory Interests
I would be interested in supervising doctorates with a higher education focus, especially concerning academic identity, student voice, disciplinary identity and teaching and learning policy.
