Personal profile

Scholarly biography

I studied Geography at the University of Aberystwyth before going to the University of Bristol where I completed a masters, then a PhD examining national identity and nation-building in Quebec.

From 2003-13 I worked at the University of Southampton, mainly for the Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies where I organised and managed UK-wide educational development activities.

I joined the Centre for Learning and Teaching in 2013. I am course leader for the PG Certificate in Academic Practice in  which is taken by most early career teaching staff. I am also the CLT's Employability lead.

I am an active researcher and have published work on identity in Quebec, disciplinary academic identities, interdisciplinary teaching and learning, teaching quality regimes and student voice in higher education.

Research interests

My research interests include student voice, interdisciplinary teaching and learning, the professionalisation of teaching and learning in higher education.
