Research interests
My research explores how inclusive curriculum design and teaching practices can enable equitable outcomes in Higher Education.
As an Academic Developer, I develop resources and deliver team-based training to support staff to be more inclusive in both curriculum design and delivery, including a focus on embedding positive mental health and wellbeing practices. These approaches are based in ideas from critical and compassionate pedagogies, and education for social justice.
I also lead the Professional Recognition and Development (PRD) Scheme, our institutional CPD route to AdvanceHE Fellowships, and contribute to the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP).
Past significant projects include leadership of the Inclusive Practice Partnerships Scheme: a student / staff partnership initiative to review the representation of racial, ethnic and cultural identities in module curriculum; and the development of the Inclusive Practice Mark: a recognition award for module teams that shows a commitment to diversifying or decolonising their subject and associated L&T practices.
