Scholarly biography
Jess Baines-Holmes is a Senior Lecturer in Education specialising in Primary Science. Jess has a particular interest in science in the early years as well as learning outside the classroom.
Jess is a qualified primary teacher having previously taught in schools in London and Sussex for over 10 years.
Jess has significant experience teaching on the BA primary and PGCE primary routes.

Research interests
Jessica Baines-Holmes’ research interests focus science in the early years and science in the outdoor environment.
In 2010 she completed an MA in Education that explored how socio-cultural factors mediate student teachers’ use of technological tools in their pedagogical practices.
Jess was part of the Erasmus funded CEYS project: Creativity in Early Years Science Education
Knowledge exchange
Jess is a member of the Association for Science Education (ASE) and has formerly been a member of the regional committee.
