Personal profile

Supervisory Interests

I am interested in supervising student projects in LGBT+ health and wellbeing, and in gay, bisexual, and trans masculinities. I would act as co-supervisor on projects in other areas that use Discourse Analysis, Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, and mixed methods.

Research interests

I have an ongoing research commitment to gay masculinities, and in particular, how gender is produced and embodied in sex between men, including in chemsex. I am interested in sexual self-labelling, and how it relates to masculine identity, experiences of gender, and sexual practices. One of my current projects examines how bisexual men interpret and experience masculinity, and how this is related to their feelings and practices in sexual relationships, which may have sexual health implications.

I am interested in studying LGBT+ experiences within the Criminal Justice System, including how the positioning of LGBT+ people as "vulnerable" relates to their experiences of police, Courts, prison and forensic mental healthcare.
