Research interests

I am interested in the development of biomaterials for wound healing and tissue regeneration, especially in a microbiological context. In my recent projects I have been developing wound dressings for the management of malodours and controlling infections. I also have an interest in photodynamic and phage therapies in the context of wound healing.

Supervisory Interests

My primary area of expertise is in microbiology and I have a particular interest in supervising projects investigating the development of antimicrobial materials for wound care and other elements of clinical practice. Such materials could include: those coated with bacteriophage to tackle wound infections; those infused with photosensitive dyes towards the development of light-activated antimicrobial dressings; materials containing novel antimicrobial actives; or conventional actives presented in a novel way for optimal delivery to the target site.
