My research interest revolves around three key themes: interethnic relations and prejudice, social capital, civic engagement and democratization in the Middle East and peacebuilding and reconciliation. My most recent publications include my book Social Capital, Civic Engagement and Democratization in Kurdistan 2020 (published by Palgrave Macmillan), IDPs in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq: Protracted Return and the Absence of Social Integration Policy 2020 (Journal of International Migration) and The Alienation of Social Sciences from “the Social”: The Experience of Sociology Education at Kurdish Universities of Kurdistan Region of Iraq 2020 (Journal of Advances in Applied Sociology). I am interested in supervising PhD projects in areas relating to civil society and social movements, new forms of on-line social solidarity and social capital, value changes, conflict studies, peacebuilding and reconciliation, intergroup relations, and social integration policies.
