Personal profile
Scholarly biography
I graduated at University of Ferrara (Università degli studi di Ferrara, Italy) where I studied subjects related both to chemistry and biology such as Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Gene Therapy, Pharmacology and Toxicology. Besides, thanks to Pharmaceutical Technology, I learned to appreciate and know the structure of nanoparticles but above all their importance in pharmaceutical field for the delivery of drugs and small DNA or RNA fragments. My passion brought me to master my knowledge at UCC (University College Cork, Ireland). At UCC I developed and optimised the production of nanoparticles using the Microfluidic technique, an extremely innovative method, useful for delivering siRNA designed to determine brain tumor. Two short experiences in pharmaceutical companies enriching me under any point of view, but the Research and the study of new genetic therapies are my greatest personal and professional ambitions. Therefore I decided to focus on new opportunities in the University field. Hence, I won a Scholarship at Università degli studi di Napoli Federico II (Naples), where I worked with Microfluidics for the targeted delivery of miRNA for the Glioblastoma treatment. Finally, I won a PhD scholarship at University of Brighton where I'm studying Microfluidics for the generation of microdroplets and nanodroplets designated for the breast cancer therapy, combining Physics and Gene Therapy.
Research interests
My research is based on two important topics: microfluidics and personalized medicine. The focus is the preparation of microparticles/droplets that allow a better delivery of extremely selective drugs for the treatment of breast cancer
