Research interests

François Clemens is a Research Fellow in the Advanced Engineering Centre at the University of Brighton. His research focuses on experimental thermofluid dynamics, with a particular interest in two-phase flow, heat transfer, and thermal management systems under variable gravity conditions.

He obtained his PhD in Engineering from the University of Brighton, where he investigated flexible polymeric Pulsating Heat Pipes through experiments conducted during the European Space Agency’s parabolic flight campaigns. His work combined infrared thermography, flow visualisation, and algorithmic tracking methods to characterise slug–plug flow dynamics and coupled thermal behaviour.

François currently contributes to the Leverhulme Trust project AMUSE, studying the effects of dissolved gases on the onset of nucleate boiling.

Education/Academic qualification
