Personal profile

Research interests

I am a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art and Fashion Communication.

My research investigates embodied space and residual encounter through movement, making and theory. I take the processes and mechanics of photography as a conceptual framework, in particular, convergence of reality and illusion, materiality and time.

I am also interested in experiences of being in a female body and maternal metamorphosis in relation to memory, encounter, sexuality and the supernatural.

Theoretical research includes new materialism, intersectional feminism, threshold concepts, physics of time, crowd mood and proxemics.

I work across a range of materials and media. My visual work has developed from a starting point in painting, drawing and analogue photography, which has moved into digital photography. More recently I have begun to incorporate virtual space with a focus on augmented reality and gaming platforms.  I also have a writing element to my creative practice, with a focus on poetry and autoethnography, and am interested in exploring visual text and spoken word in context of photography.
