Scholarly biography

Christian’s career as a researcher started in 2015 at the University of Brighton when he investigated the diesel-hydrogen co-combustion and carried out testing of a diesel engine calibrated to achieve low temperature combustion. Later he started an EngD project, in collaboration with Ricardo UK, where he focussed on the modelling of gasoline engines in-cylinder flows and combustion. He developed a novel modelling methodology that allows to provide realistic engine heat release predictions in the early stages of new engines development reducing design uncertainties. His work is currently focussing on modelling the effect of water injection on the compression work of a recuperated split cycle engine. He recently broadened his research interests to large scale energy systems, investigating the life degradation of packed bed used to store energy as sensible heat.
