Research interests

Her research lies at the intersection of Kant's moral philosophy, dignity and international human rights law, specifically the European Court of Human Rights and its Article 3 jurisprudence on domestic violence. Her work focuses explicitly on the deliberative capacity of the judge when tasked with adjudicating domestic violence issues, such as in the context of Article 3 of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR), by analysing their perfect and imperfect obligations, which reveals an intermingling net of duties that provides a rationalisation for analysing the judges' duty of self-mastery in the legal setting. This idea encapsulates a perspective on Kant's dignity that illuminates an approach to judging, which shows domestic violence may cross the torture threshold in the context of Article 3 ECHR.
