Lea Stracquadanio

I am a conservation biologist with an interest in human-wildlife conflict, behavioural ecology and endangered species conservation.

My PhD studied threats to Temminck's ground pangolin (Smutsia temminckii). I investigated how environmental and anthropogenic factors influence pangolin habitat use and distribution in Kenya. I also researched the impact of electric fences on pangolins in South Africa.

I graduated from University College Dublin with a BSc (Hons) in Zoology in 2017. My dissertation studied the impact that African elephants have on game reserve vegetation in South Africa and aimed to improve reserve management. I then completed an MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation at University of Leeds in 2018. My research project worked with Colobus Conservation in Kenya and studied methods to prevent primates from crop-foraging on farms with the goal of reducing human-wildlife conflict. After this, I worked as an Ecological Consultant before joining University of Brighton as a PhD student in 2020.
