Scholarly biography
Adaeze Okoye (nee Ifesi) has previously worked at the Canterbury Christ Church University, University of Wales, Aberystwyth and the University of Hull. Educated both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, she is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. An active researcher, she has written chapters in edited collections and peer reviewed articles in notable journals including the Journal of Business Ethics, Corporate Governance and the International Journal of Law and Management. In December 2016 her monograph on legal approaches and corporate social responsibility was published by the Routledge research in corporate law series.
She participated in the first annual Harvard Law School, Institute for Global Law and Policy Workshop in June 2010. She was an Academic Fellow of the Honourable society of Inner Temple from 2015 - 2018 and upon successfull completion of her tenure, became an Associate Academic Fellow until 2023. Subsequently Adaeze became an honorary member. She was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) 2015- 2016. She was a member of the Libraries committee of the Society of Legal Scholars (SLS) 2016-2021. She is currently a member of the SLS EDI Committee 2023 until 2026. She was appointed to the Advisory Board for the Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) Open Book Service in 2019. In 2021, she became part of the Editorial Board for the IALS OBserving Law Series. This series has now been relaunched as Reimagining Law and Justice | Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (sas.ac.uk)
Adaeze was Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lead for the School of Business and Law between 2021-2024. She is also a Senior Fellow of Advance HE.

She is currently supervising three PhD students.
She would like to hear from potential postgraduate students interested in legal corporate accountability, corporate social responsibility, dispute resolution systems and sustainable development areas.
Knowledge exchange
I coordinate the critical law and corporate social responsibility network. This brings together practitioners, students and academics to discuss and analyse key issues in the area of business accountability and law.
We have hosted three annual conferences:
Critical legal perspectives and corporate social responsibility June 2016 (funded by IALS and Inner temple)
Critical law and corporate crime June 2017 (funded by the Society of Legal scholars and Inner Temple)
