Personal profile

Research interests

I am a PhD student at Brighton & Sussex Medical School, Centre for Dementia Studies, Department of Neuroscience. My PhD research is aiming to tackle stigma around Dementia with my main interest in the formation of attitudes towards dementia in young people, project funded by the Alzheimer's society.

I am quantitative researcher with my background mainly using neuroimaging and molecular lab techniques as well as developing psychometric scales and recruiting participants. I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. Having completed a research internship in cognitive neuropsychology in 2016 using experimental memory paradigms, my undergraduate research project used EEG neuroimaging to detect cognitive biomarkers (error-related negativity) in anxiety disorders. In 2018, I graduated with an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience where my research was in molecular cancer biology, where i was lab based looking at the role of the gene HOXA9 in mediating PARPi resitance in Glioblastoma multiforme cell-lines. During my MSc, I became a neuroscience taster lecturer at the University of Roehampton, running seminars for students on neuroscience topics over the years, presenting on neurodegenerative diseases having worked on a project for one of my MSc modules where I reviewed clinical trial data on the theraputic potential of endocannabinoids in Parkinson's Disease. I am a PhD scholars programme tutor where i teach on on life expectancy data and will be delivering my own module on the programme 'Dementia - a clinical perspective on brain and health'.

I hold professional society memberships with British Psychological Society (MBPsS), The Royal Statistical Society (FRSS), British Neuroscience Association & Federation of European Neuroscience Societies.
