Research interests

My main research focuses on the engineering of secure and trustworthy systems that ensure data privacy. My research interests are in the area Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Cyber Security, Threat Modeling, and Security Requirements Engineering. I study methods, tools, and techniques that support engineers in the development of systems that are secure and protect data privacy

Scholarly biography

I am a Principal Lecturer in Cyber Security at the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Brighton UK, since 2014. I am also a member of the Centre for Secure, Intelligent, and Usable Systems. Before joining University of Brighton I was a part time Lecturer at University of East London (UEL). I hold a PhD in secure software engineering from UEL and I was awarded a PhD scholarship from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and British Telecom (BT). I received my MSc in Internet Systems Engineering from University of East London and my BSc degree in Information Technology from the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, Greece.

Knowledge exchange

I am the academic supervisor for a 3 year KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) project that aims to develop cyber security applications.

Approach to teaching

I am currently teaching ‘Secure Information Systems Engineering’ (MSc level), ‘Information Security Management’ (MSc level), ‘Systems Analysis and Design’ (BSc level), and ‘Object-Oriented Analysis and Modelling Methods’ (BSc level).

I am passionate about teaching and I am employing a combination of active learning techniques, i.e. inquiry based learning and cooperative learning that provide students with deep understanding of software development concepts and experience of working with all types of people as in real life software project that include developers from different cultural background.
