Organisation profile
Children and adolescents represent a significant proportion of the UK and global population. They face the daunting challenge of navigating childhood and adolescence on their way to an adulthood with a changing future of new and complex global issues.
As members of this research group, we are experts in child and adolescent research, investigating how children and adolescents experience these issues, and how those issues impact on physical, emotional, moral, psychological and intellectual development. Our research interests include, but are not limited to, quality education, good health and wellbeing, gender equality, peace and justice, and climate action.
Drawing on a diverse range of methodologies from humanities and social sciences, our researchers explore these global challenges using experimental methods, psychometric testing, digital technologies, creative methods and co-production to uncover new knowledge that will make a meaningful difference in children’s and adolescents’ lives. Our research puts the needs and wellbeing of our key stakeholders, the children and adolescents themselves, at its heart – not only through our focus and methods of research, but also by developing and applying the highest standards of ethical research practice and open, accessible research.
Working closely with our far-reaching network of researchers, practitioners, policy makers and care providers, we seek to achieve the greatest impact by gaining a better understanding of the issues from those directly affected and sharing what we learn, to enhance practice and policies affecting children and adolescents in the UK and throughout the world.
