Education Research Excellence Group

Organisation profile

Organisation profile

The University of Brighton has a long-standing reputation as a centre of excellence in Education research. The Education Research Excellence Group integrates all the university’s learning and teaching/pedagogic and education research and knowledge exchange activity, supporting impact and providing a hub for methodological development in education-aligned work.

Our research deals with a wide range of issues in education and joins with external partners towards shared initiatives in the educational sphere. We represent learners and young citizens, their experiences of educational settings across a range of fields and phases (from early years to university and/or the workplace), the extent and nature of their rights, agency, participation and inclusion in learning events and spaces. We research relationships between educational institutions and wider community/society along with the social, cultural and political contexts within which these processes all take place, including educators working in different professional contexts (for example healthcare) and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
