Organisation profile
The Care, Health and Emotional Wellbeing Research Excellence Group (CHEW) is a supportive, fluid and inclusive entity, rooted in a commitment to reducing inequalities and social justice. Its members’ interests span co-production, care ethics, masculinities, social isolation, mental ill-health, fatherhood, practitioner vulnerability, young people in care, stigma and discrimination, human trafficking and health inequalities.
Many areas of research have real world application, such as in relation to welfare delivery and service provision, as well as social policy. Previous projects have included the development of an app supporting people experiencing homelessness and an exploration of the emotional vulnerability of social workers. A key ethos of the group is that of collaboration – between members, with the wider university and with the external community.
