Description
In June-July 2025, I was invited to visit the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), with funding support from the Advanced Engineering Centre (AEC), University of Brighton. The visit marked the beginning of an ongoing collaboration on the Breakup in Liquid Sheets (BILS) project. During the visit, I delivered a seminar titled “Sprays: Liquid breakup and droplet distribution”, presenting experimental and modelling insights from my doctoral research at AEC. The collaboration focuses on advancing modelling strategies for primary atomisation and the evolution of polydisperse droplet flows, including reactive flow configurations, by combining experimental diagnostics with Lagrangian frameworks and subgrid-scale models. We are currently exploring the use of BSC’s in-house multiphysics solver Alya, which enables large-scale multiphase and turbulent reactive flow simulations. This joint effort aims to connect AEC’s expertise in optical diagnostics and spray characterisation with BSC’s strengths in computational modelling of complex fluid systems.
