Description
Co-organised and panel speaker at Book Launch: What is the relationship between sound and social justice? The Sonic Rebellions network brings activists, academics, and artists together to explore this question. This event launched their exciting new book – creative explorations of how we are or can become sonic rebels.
The upcoming book - Sonic Rebellions: Sound & Social Justice, edited by Wanda Canton - covers the use of soundscapes, rap, theatre, social media, protest, and song, in application to contemporary socio-political issues, such as gentrification, neoliberalism, criminalisation, democracy, and migrant rights. The Sonic Rebellions network will share readings, listening, sound, music and multimedia offerings created and inspired by the book.
This creative book launch is open to all. It is part of the Sonic Rebellions 2024 symposium at the University of Brighton, supported by the Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics and Ethics.
