Description

Screendancing History was part of the Screendance Festival and a collaboration between the School of Art and Media, Cinecity and South East Dance. Curated by Claudia Kappenberg, the event started with a roundtable investigating how artist' moving image and Screendance engage with historical narratives, and how screens draw attention, witness and remember. With contributions by Marisa Hayes (France), Luisa Lazarro (Italy), Sandhiya Kalyanasundaram (Canada) and Priscilla Guy (Canada). This was followed by an evening of films, also curated by Claudia Kappenberg. Part 1 consisted of a screening of Transparent (Siobhan Davies 2022) and Q&A with the choreographer, followed by a Part 2 'Acts of Memory', a programme of short films which explore different choreographic and cinematic approaches to remembering the past and bringing it into dialogue with the present.
