Description
Workshop (University of Brighton)The workshop will bring together feminist groups and projects confronting gendered/racialised/homophobic/transphobic harassment, epistemic oppression and silencing in academic institutions, in social movement spaces, and in interpersonal relationships. The aim of the workshop is to discuss, reflect upon and create collaborative practices against multiple forms of violence, recognising that face-to-face conversations are needed in order to build solidarity across and against borders.
Participants include members of the following collectives: The Feminist Autonomous Centre for Research (FAC), Salvage, Feminist Solidarity Against Borders (FABS)
Outline:
- Introduction of each group and project (FAC, FABS, Salvage)
- WS1 - What counts as legitimate knowledge and who is granted the right to produce and receive it?

- WS2 - Dealing with power and abuse in(between) the academy and activist spaces: the life of complaints and community accountability processes (Salvage)
- WS 3 - On witchcraft and solidarity: everyday feminist practice and knowledge production (Feminist Solidarity Against Borders - FABS)
- Planning for the next steps: networks, self-care, solidarity across borders
