'New Skills and Opportunities for World Cultures Curating' workshop

Activity: EventsConference

Description

Panel at the Museums Association Conference, Brighton, 2019 This workshop reflected on the skills required by curators of world cultures collections today. Introductory presentations were delivered by Rachael Minott (Horniman Museum), Rebecca Bridgman (Birmingham Museums Trust) and Christo Kefalas (National Trust), and provided provocations to support wider discussions amongst delegates. Over 70 delegates were facilitated by staff from the MA Curating Collections and Heritage at the University of Brighton and Royal Pavilion & Museums, Brighton & Hove, to outline the key skills required and barriers preventing individual and institutional change. We produced a series of recommendations for funders and policy makers, encouraging them to support sectoral development.
