Dr Marlon Moncrieffe is a former road and track cyclist, now an academic and world leading expert on the history and lives of Black cycling champions.

His original research and exhibitions entitled Made in Britain: Uncovering the life-histories of Black-British Champions in Cycling has won wide international acclaim for its anti-racist messaging for supporting diversity and inclusion in cycling.

This work has been exhibited in various famous venues across the UK including Herne Hill Velodrome, London, and at the 2019 UCI World Road Race Championships, Harrogate, Yorkshire.

Marlon’s research work has also featured in multiple international publications and broadcasts such as Procycling Magazine, Conquista Magazine, The Road Book Journal and Cycling Weekly, BBC Television, BBC Radio, Sky TV, Eurosport, ITV Tour de France.

Marlon provides expert advisory support to national and international organisations such as British Cycling and the 2023 World Cycling Championships Sports Advisory Group.

His book Desire Discrimination Determination – Black Champions in Cycling was published last year and is a collection of stories exploring the black experience of competitive cycling, a thorough and thoughtful exploration of the rich and often overlooked history of black cyclists.
