Description
This talk was part of the public programming to accompany the exhibition Julius Klinger. Posters for a Modern Age that was shown at the Poster House, New York from March 4 - August 15 2021. It was presented online by Aynsley who initally guest curated the exhibition for the Wolfsonian FIU, Miami Beach in 2017. The lecture focussed on thme of identity in Julius Klingfer's graphic work, from portraying individual personalities, cultural events, commercial enterprises and industrial manufacturers, to initiating a graphic identity for the city of Vienna in the 1920s. Klinger’s life and work raise important questions about the question of identity in the modern world that shed light on the times in which he lived while carrying significant resonances for us today.
