ATE seminar: Strengthening Research Integrity Through Bibliometric Skills

Activity: External talk or presentationOral presentation

Description

Questionable publishing practices—predatory journals, paper mills, fake peer reviews, and citation cartels pose growing threats to research integrity. Even reputable platforms face issues like citation coercion and ghost authorship, while generative AI introduces new risks of fabricated content and phantom citations. This interactive workshop empowers participants to detect and address such misconduct using bibliometric tools. Through real cases and collaborative analysis, attendees will explore forensic scientometrics, apply the REAPPRAISED checklist, and examine AI’s dual role in enabling and detecting fraud. Participants will strengthen skills to identify red flags, promote transparency, and advance ethical leadership in scholarly communication.
