A Utopia Briefly Made Real

Description

In the Guardian review of last year’s Supersonic festival, Jennifer Lucy Allan stated: “Supersonic is not just a music festival, but a site for resistance and community, a utopia made briefly real”. In response, key members of non-mainstream music communities will come together to discuss the ways that collective expression and togetherness are socially valuable—and how these moments become ever more important amid ongoing Tory cuts to arts funding, and the cynical, politically motivated fabrication of so-called “culture wars”.

Chaired by Derek Walmsley (Editor, The Wire) guest speakers include: Caleb Madden (Director, Outlands Network), Fielding Hope (Cafe OTO/Counterflows Festival), Lisa Meyer (Supersonic Festival) and Stephanie Phillips (Decolonise Festival)
