Poster presentation ABSTRACT Hand therapy is a component of hand injury rehabilitation, yet challenges persist in incorporating occupational science. This struggle arises from the tension between the dominant medical model and emerging occupational science concepts (Colaianni et al., 2015). Hand injuries have an impact on daily life with individuals experiencing functional limitations in performing daily activities (Che Daud et al., 2016). These injuries can lead to considerable stress and disruptions of everyday routines. Occupational disruptions occur when individuals are temporarily unable to participate in what is important for them. The consequences of occupational disruption are significant in all four dimensions of doing, becoming, being, and belonging which has an impact on the health and well-being of this population (Nizzero et al., 2017). The aim of the study, which is currently underway and due to be complete by summer 2024, is to explore the literature relating to the causes and contributions to occupational disruption following a hand injury. A scoping review will map the existing body of knowledge and identify gaps in current literature guided by Arksey and O’Malley’s framework (2005). This might provide insights into the understanding and impact of a hand injury and enhance rehabilitation strategies integrating a holistic approach.
